Hunting and Fauna: Lombardia, Wild boar alarm shouted loudly by farmers for the huge damage caused in the last ten years.
Not only in Lombardy but throughout the peninsula. In ten years, according to Coldiretti Lombardia, wildlife has caused damage in the region for an impressive total: 16 million euros. In the dock, the Lombard farmers put first the wild boar which, moving in herd or alone, even rummages through the garbage of the areas with high residential intensity. And for those who live off agriculture it is a daily threat.
A cornfield is reduced to a clean slate in a very short time if it is prey to one or more boars. Between damage to agriculture and car accidents, only in 2012 due to wildlife the Region paid over 2 million in compensation, while between 2005 and 2015 - still estimates by Coldiretti Lombardia - 16 million euro, 40% of which concentrated in the last four years.
Every year in Lombardy wild boars are responsible for almost 600 euros in damage, one third of which for road accidents. The wild boars reproduced uncontrollably and without natural antagonists. And the farmer has no tools to intervene.
