“Typically wild boar: fertility and productivity of the best known of ungulates”, this is the theme of the seminar to be held in Ribolla (GR) on Saturday 24 May 2014.
A seminar on the topic “Typically wild boar: fertility and productivity of the best known of ungulates” will be held in Ribolla, in the province of Grosseo; the event is organized by the Province of Grosseto and the Municipality of Roccastrada and will take place in the hall of the former Ribolla cinema on Saturday 24 May 2014 from 9,30. The topics discussed during the meeting concern the advantages of being a trained hunter and the productivity of local wild boars. The Province of Grosseto, in collaboration with ASL 9, has launched a training course for team leaders and hunters concerning the marketing of the meat of shot game; we will talk about the anatomical, physiological and behavioral part of wild fauna with an evaluation of anomalous behaviors and pathological changes to then move on to the hygiene-sanitary rules and techniques for the manipulation, transport and evisceration of the culled animals.
In the same context, moreover, a project was launched by the Province of Grosseto which provides for the analysis of the reproductive systems of culled females as an alternative very effective investigation tool for the management of the species. In fact, in the context of the project, the members of three teams of wild boar hunters have actively collected the reproductive apparatuses of the slaughtered sows allowing to carry out the investigation on the fertility rate of this species and therefore to be able to make more precise estimates on the growth potential of the populations. of wild boars.
