Hunting and Fauna: Pescara, two wild boars probably thought of going to the sea and took a ride on the beach on the Riviera between Pescara and Montesilvano.
Nowadays on the beach you can really see everything but a wild boar running around on the shore and bathing had never been seen before. It happened on the part of the coast that goes from Montesilvano to Pescara where two wild boars were sighted while running around on the beach and bathing despite the bad weather. The first report came from Montesilvano, in the Bagni Bruno area. A first wild boar was sighted while bathing in the sea, attracting the curiosity of passers-by; the wild boar fled to the south probably to reach another specimen. In fact, near the bathing establishment "Le Naiadi" some witnesses say they have spotted at least two wild boars, one of which, weighing about 70 kilos, began to swim offshore but then turned back reaching the shore and fleeing to the nearby pine forest making them lose their tracks; the second largest wild boar, about 100 kilos, fled southwards reaching Pescara and causing havoc on the beach and in the streets.
However, the alarm had now been raised and some patrols of the Carabinieri, the State Police and the State Forest Guard intervened on the spot and after a long search they identified and captured the wild boar. The animal had hidden in the port area inside an overflow near the statue of the Madonnina. Once discovered, he tried to escape again but a few gunshots fired by the intervening agents were enough to stop the wild boar before it could cause damage to people or things; finally the wild boar was anesthetized by the men of the Forestry and definitively captured. According to a first hypothesis, the animal could have reached the coast from the hills along the green area that accompanies the course of the Saline river in Montesilvano.
