Article 38 of the legislative decree 1781: City Council of Turin opposed to the approval.
The vote is approaching to approve article number 38 of the 1781 bill, that is the Community law on hunting. This is the article that provides for the extension of the hunting period. If this article were approved, hunting would also be practicable in August and February.
The Turin City Council asks the Chamber not to approve this article and expresses its absolute opposition on the subject. This request was forwarded through the approval of a specific agenda.
Council representatives believe that by approving this article hunting can only turn into a wild hunt.
Hunting during the months of fever and August is considered as a counterproductive act because in August the nests would be full of small birds still too dependent on their parents and because February represents the period, not only for migration, but above all for the reproduction of many species of birds. The City Council does not want to get on a war footing against hunting in general but only against an unorganized type of hunting that could harm the fauna of our territory.
The Chamber has not yet put its weight on the matter and it is still difficult to predict what its choice will be on the day of the vote. The vote is scheduled for the month of March.
