Hunting and Territory: Macerata, ATC 2 collaborates for the restoration of wetlands to favor the aquatic wildlife that uses them to find nourishment.
As everyone knows, in the Province of Macerata there is a strong lack of wetlands suitable for stopping and feeding aquatic wildlife. To compensate for the above, at the request of the ACMA (Association of Aquatic Migrant Hunters), a project was activated for the period of the prenuptial spring migration in order to have suitable places for the stopping of aquatic wildlife while maintaining a suitable level of water: a few centimeters, necessary for an optimal stop for the species garganey, fighter, godwit, pyro pyro, courier, curlew, squid, snipe.
The project was carried out in collaboration with most of the owners of the fixed positions for aquatic plants (pantiere) which were restored at their expense along the river courses. These lakes (small wetlands) are used for hunting from 01 September to 31 January of each year. In the period of the spring migration it is essential, as already specified above, to have a few centimeters of water in these ponds, therefore it is necessary to introduce it every week with additional expenses by the dealers.
In collaboration with the owners of the fixed positions, the ATC MC 2 has been carrying out this project for some years, making a small economic contribution to restore these wetlands in this delicate period of migration towards nesting sites, contributing to the safeguarding and conservation of all wildlife.
Furthermore, these restored wetlands can be used during the spring, when the hunting activity is over, for the observation of the aquatic fauna without creating the slightest disturbance.
In this regard, those who want to observe or photograph it can safely go, given their availability, to the restored wetland at the Carpineti Michele farm located in Località Piane di Potenza in the municipality of Montelupone.
