Hunting and Migration: ANUU Migrators provides information on the migratory pass in Italy according to FEIN ornithological observations, “The September pass begins”.
The beginning of September finally gives the north beautiful days, with a first phase characterized by strong winds. On the splendid days of 1 and 2 the cloud coverings coming from the east stopped giving the illusion of a late summer. As far as migration is concerned, the FEIN Ornithological Observatory in Arosio saw many black whales ringed, peaking at 56 ringings on 6 September. To them were added, in addition to those already appeared in August such as Golden Oriole, Stiaccino, Cannaiola, Spotted Forapaglie, Common Redstart and a second Bigiarella on 4 September, the other trans-Saharan species such as the Green Luì, the Big Luì and the Flycatcher. Interesting was the recapture of a Prispolone with a Finnish ring on 5 September, a day in which there was a very good pace of the species with the ringing of 27 subjects.
Observatories scattered throughout the territory indicate a good presence of anatidae, including Marzaiole and Alzavole, while among the waders the Piro whitetip and common snipe were the most observed species in the areas congenial to them. At this point, waiting for the first post-nuptial song Thrush, the FEIN Observatory hopes that this generalized migratory movement will continue in the next few days, hoping to quickly reach the maximum number of 190.000 birds ringed in 37. years of continuous and constant study since 4 August 1977.
