Hunting and Migration: ANUU Migrationists on the migration pass in Italy, “An intense week”.
An immense anticyclonic mass has stationed, as in all the summer months, in the northern European areas, effectively protecting them from the unstable weather that has triggered a series of disturbed fronts on the Iberian Peninsula and the northern Mediterranean with widespread showers and thunderstorms.
In this particular situation, in the second decade of September an interesting post-nuptial migration took place with days of notable migratory "peak" which saw the massive appearance of the Blackcaps of which, at the FEIN Ornithological Observatory of Arosio, many subjects have been ringed. In particular, on 16 September 61 individuals, on 18 another 51 and on Sunday 21 71 specimens were ringed, of which 55 were males.
There is also a good presence of the Song Thrush, which seems to have anticipated its massive appearance compared to previous years, so much so that on Sunday 21, always in Arosio, among observed and ringed individuals, about thirty were counted. The passage of the trans-Saharan species continues its course and Black Balie, Beccafichi, Prispoloni, Torcicolli and Codirossi have appeared more or less numerous throughout the region.
In northern Italy, numerous movements of Rondini and Balestrucci were noted, especially on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 September. Once again and for the third week of September at the ornithological station there was no lack of emotions, giving days full of observations and catches with the hope that everything will go on like this.
