Migration Hunt. In its last meeting, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Regional Wildlife Committee expressed its opinion on the closing date of the hunt for Woodcock (Scolopax rusticola), Song Thrush (Turdus philomelos) and Cesena (Turdus pilaris) species.
The Committee's decision came in response to requests from the Ministry of the Environment, which had requested an advance to 20 January.
The regional president of Federcaccia Paolo Viezzi, in an interview with the Gazzettino del Friuli, stated that "In the meeting of the Committee we had to acknowledge that the Council has concretely renounced the prerogatives of the Friuli Venezia Giulia specialty, making itself supine to the illegitimate decisions of the Government ".
Viezzi went on to explain that the Region could not have adapted to the government request for early closure while maintaining the date set by regional law. "In January - recalls Viezzi - Panontin had rejected a similar request from the Government, citing absolutely justified legal, technical and scientific reasons". But the Region apparently preferred to respond positively to the new request.
