Hunting and Territory: Enalcaccia on the establishment of the Parco dei Monti Ernici, "in contrast with the hunting regulations, damages many categories".
For some time, news has been circulating on the imminent establishment of the Parco dei Monti Ernici extolling the many benefits that this protected area will bring to the Ciociara community without, however, considering the disadvantages and negative repercussions that the Park will have on it. In our opinion, it will be more correct to inform citizens about what will be the positive and negative effects of a Regional Park before making any decision, but as usual, as happened for the Natural Reserves and for all other constraints such as SPAs ( special protection areas) SIC (Sites of Community Interest), natural monuments and landscape and hydrogeological constraints, this park will also be imposed on us from above by the regional administration, which demonstrates, and has shown in the past, to totally disregard the realities and local issues. It is clear how the establishment of such a protected area seriously damages some categories, such as hunters, farmers, landowners, breeders and fishermen, as well as being in contrast with Law 157/92 and Regional Law 17/95 which establishes : "The agro-forestry-pastoral territory of each region is destined for a share of 20 to 30 percent for the protection of wildlife", in this region before the park of the Ausoni Mountains and Lake of Fondi was approved we were already abundantly out the percentage is 34%.
The regulation governing these protected areas prohibits: Capture, collection and damage of animal and plant species as well as the removal of minerals and archaeological finds, alteration of the geophysical environment and of the chemical and hydrogeological characteristics of the waters, introduction of weapons etc. etc. It is enough to read this regulation to understand how within such protected areas, activities such as hunting, fishing, pastoralism, mushroom picking, agriculture and construction would be severely limited or even canceled.
However, as far as hunting in our territory is concerned, it should be emphasized that it represents a tradition that has its roots in time and today sees more than 9.000 hunters in the Province engaged (The promoters of the Parco dei Monti Ernici Committee are proud of having collected 1000 adhesions! ) and that the same hunting activity has never caused any damage, nor is it seen by the local population as a nuisance activity, on the contrary the Municipalities interested in the park are absolutely against it and demonstrated this in the meeting organized at the Municipality of Alatri a few weeks ago.
To conclude, on the basis of these observations, one wonders why the Lazio Region intends to go ahead with establishing the Parco dei Monti Ernici in open disregard of the laws and prescribed procedures? What real reason is behind all this? For us it is the confirmation that we are witnessing acts and facts that are unclear, of enormous confusion, which probably imply purposes other than those of simple environmental protection and conservation (naturalist ideological fanaticism ?, environmentalist integralism? Anti-hunt sentiment? Or else ???? ?
