Hunting and Territory: Perugia, a very successful ecological day, promoted by the Federcaccia Hunting Association in collaboration with the Municipality of Giano dell'Umbria and Sia, on the Martani Mountains.
Yesterday, Sunday 9 June, the “Ecological day” was held in the Martani Mountains promoted by Federcaccia, in collaboration with the municipal administration of Giano dell'Umbria and Sia, the company that manages waste collection. A traditional appointment that also saw the participation of a delegation from the institute including Giano, which has always participated in awareness-raising initiatives on the theme of separate waste collection and environmental protection. The volunteers, divided into teams, cleared of bulky waste various sites distributed in various areas of the municipal territory and then found themselves in the equipped area of the "yellow meadows", just under 1000 meters above sea level, for a convivial moment. Several tons of bulky waste abandoned in the escarpments recovered by volunteers, including appliances, tires, ferrous scrap and old furniture. Claudio Venturini, the president of the local section of Federcaccia, was very satisfied with the success of the initiative, who took the floor to thank all or volunteers who attended, the sponsors who offered the typical products for the snack and the partners of the day, the Municipality and Sia spa. The President also thanked the head teacher Giuseppe Sofia for the presence of the school, underlining the positive message that comes from the hunting world in the care and protection of the environment.
After Venturini, the Mayor of Giano Paolo Morbidoni took the floor and delivered a plaque to the Association for this initiative, now consolidated over time, which made it possible to reclaim, with limited resources, many beautiful areas of the Martani Mountains and to increase sensitivity collective on this issue. In fact, waste is a threat to the environment and a cost to the community and it is absurd to abandon it in the mountains, in the presence of a totally free disposal service made available by the two municipalities of Giano and Gualdo Cataneo, available for four days. per week at the ecological island of Fontecupa in Ponte di Ferro.
The initiative was attended by the President and Director of Sia Luciano Concezi and Sergio Leombruni, the Provincial President of Federcaccia Alessandro Barbino, the president of the “Ekoclub” association Leonardo Angelici, and the school director Giuseppe Sofia. Also present was the Municipal Councilor for the Environment David Cardarelli, the Councilors Vittorio Terenzi and Bioli Marcello, a delegation of the Provincial Police and the commander of the Carabinieri station of Giano, Vincenzo Auricchio.
