Hunting and Fauna: in Nocera Umbra a hunter saved a wolf from certain death after he had presumably ate poisoned morsels.
Another wolf in Boschetto. And, as in an upside-down fairytale, this time the hunter saves the wolf. It was Pierpaolo Baiocco, a shotgun who lives in the Nocerino-Gualdase hamlet, who spotted the animal not far from the town yesterday morning, in the San Giovanni area. Realizing that the wolf was staggering, he followed him and alerted the vet. Now the animal has been treated and is safe. "I was going by car to prune the olive trees - explains Pierpaolo - On the road I saw this staggering animal and I realized that it was a wolf".
Without getting out of the car, Pierpaolo continued to follow the animal and, once he stopped, he called the vet. "The wolf went to lie down under an olive tree - he continues - and I clearly noticed the instability of his movements and excessive salivation, a symptom of poisoning, as confirmed by the veterinarian Sandro Bianchini when he arrived". In the meantime, Bianchini had already notified the Forestry, who intervened to catch the animal; the wolf, found unconscious, was immediately taken to the veterinary clinic in Gualdo Tadino for the necessary treatment; to help Bianchini, there were also colleagues Emma Baiocco and Claudia Sommario.
The wolf, a fine male specimen, is now out of danger; Ezechiele junior was baptized and may soon be released. "The wolf was certainly poisoned - explained Bianchini - It is likely that common herbicides were used, used in the poisoned morsels that unconscious people put in the woods to preserve the legacies of the hares". A singular case is that it was a hunter who saved the animal. "I practice hunting - underlined Baiocco - but like many other hunters I have the utmost respect for nature".
