The green light from the Region
By decree of the president of Lazio region, Francesco Rocca, and on the proposal of the Councilor for Hunting and Fishing, Giancarlo Righini, the regional hunting calendar and the regulations for the 2024-2025 season in Lazio were approved. The season will begin on September 15, 2024 and end on January 30, 2025. For the entire period, hunting is permitted three days a week, which the license holder can choose from Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

For the entire 2024/2025 hunting season, each hunter is allowed to kill a total of: no more than five heads for each species of: European hare and gray partridge; no more than ten heads of the pochard species; no more than twenty heads for each species of: woodcock, pheasant; no more than twenty-five heads of each species of: teal, snipe, gadwall, pintail, whipper, garganey, shoveler, quail; no more than fifty heads of each species of: lark, wigeon, coot and no more than one hundred heads of the redwing species.
Species and dates
During the season, hunting is permitted in the periods and for the game species indicated below:
Species that can be hunted from 15 September 2024 to 31 October 2024: quail
Species huntable from 15 September 2024 to 9 December 2024: European hare
Species huntable from 15 September 2024 to 30 December 2024: wild rabbit, pheasant, blackbird
Huntable species from 15 September 2024 to 30 January 2025: teal, snipe, gadwall, pintail, wood pigeon, hooded crow, wigeon, coot, whipper, moorhen, magpie, mallard, jay, garganey, shoveler, pochard, water rail, fox
Species huntable from 2 October 2024 to 30 December 2024: lark
Species huntable from 2 October to 30 January 2025: woodcock, fieldfare, song thrush, redwing
Species huntable from 2 October 2024 to 30 November 2024:
In the areas where the Territorial Hunting Areas (ATC) have ascertained the stabilization of the reintroduced populations, through constant monitoring.
In the areas subject to active management interventions according to the provisions of the sampling plans proposed by the ATC or by the Wildlife and Hunting Companies approved by the Decentralized Agriculture Areas of the Regional Directorate of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, Hunting and Fishing and Forestry, to guarantee the sustainability of the withdrawal.
The ATCs propose, before the start of the hunting season, the opening areas for the hunting of the strange, specifying the methodology used to quantify the population, the established harvest quota and the methods identified for verifying that the quota has been reached.
Species that can be hunted from 2 November 2024 to 30 January 2025: wild boar
Wild boar hunting is permitted:
in the "Suitable areas" assigned to wild boar hunting teams in the hunt and in the round;
in the "White Zones" (areas not assigned to authorized wild boar hunting teams), where wild boar hunting is permitted to hunters not registered with authorized wild boar hunting teams in hunted and rounded conditions.
The maximum number of days, which for the 2024-2025 hunting season is equal to 39, the actual use of hunting days for the wild boar species in the "Suitable areas" and in the "White areas" is modulated as follows: 2, 3 November 6, 9, 10, 13, 16, 17, 20, 23, 24, 27, 30; December 1, 4, 7, 8, 11, 14, 15, 18, 21, 22, 26, 28, 29; 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 15, 18, 19, 22, 25, 26, 29, 30 January.
Subsequently, with a separate provision, the regulations for the management of the wild boar species will be adopted, which regulates the suitable areas and methods of carrying out wild boar hunting for the 2024-2025 hunting season.
The harvesting of the pheasant species is permitted from 15 September 2024 to 30 January 2025 in wildlife hunting companies, which report the species in the wildlife address according to the forecasts contained in the sampling plans of the Regional Directorate. And in the areas subject to management interventions according to the provisions of the withdrawal plans proposed by the ATC and approved by the Regional Directorate.
The taking of the roe deer, red deer, fallow deer and mouflon species can only be carried out in the form of selection hunting and is permitted in wildlife hunting companies that list these species in the wildlife address according to the calendars indicated by ISPRA. While in the territory of the ATC and in the Wildlife Hunting Companies, which do not have these species in wildlife management, I can receive authorizations.
Finally, with a subsequent provision, hunting will be regulated for the Lazio side of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park and for the Island of Ponza. Where specific measures will also be approved to protect the Marsican brown bear to be applied in the critical area: Cicolano Mountains, Ernici Mountains, area adjacent to the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park and in the Special Conservation Areas with the presence of Brown bear.
To hunt, the hunter must have a hunting card, valid throughout the national territory. While, for the selection withdrawal a specific card is required.
