Until the last arrow is shot
The San Floriano Park in Polcenigo (Pordenone) was a worthy setting for the last of the 7 races scheduled for the circuit aimed at identifying the archery to be called up to the National Team Selection Competition on June 28 and 29 in Valsamoggia (Bologna). The ranking leaves no doubts about who will receive the call-up letter in the next few days; the email has already been sent to the 2024 Italian Champions and the mailings will be completed shortly. The final ranking highlights how surprises can be there until the last arrow is shot.
Alternative route
The competition on May 18, organized by Asd Archi nel bosco, with its challenging and never predictable shots, was appreciated by the over 100 participating archers who also enjoyed the pleasantness of the landscape and the woods they crossed. A big round of applause to the organizing Asd that, in full emergency due to the flooding of a stream, had to rebuild at least 10 shooting ranges, which had been made impassable, and study an alternative route in the space of a single day. It would have been unthinkable to cancel the competition so few days before the main event at the end of June, so all available resources and the long experience of organizing competitions of the Asd were deployed. The route, checked both on Saturday afternoon at the end of the restoration work and on Sunday morning, after a strong night storm, fortunately proved to be easily passable.
The scores achieved in the race
The regulatory formula of the Coppa Italia, which mainly involves shooting in pairs, allowed the competition to be completed in a few hours, thus leaving room for the convivial "third half", enjoyed by all archers, but also for comparisons of the scores achieved in the competition, whether or not useful for climbing positions in the provisional general classification. Those who missed out on the top 4 in the general classification by a few points can still hope for a repechage in the event of a withdrawal by some of the called-up archers; in fact, the current general classification will not correspond entirely to the actual participants in the Selection Competition, so we will give you the list later. Please note that the awards ceremony for the Coppa Italia-International Round will be held on Saturday 28 June in Valsamoggia at the end of the qualifying competition. At the end of the shoot-off on Sunday 29 June, the Champions who will make up the National Team will be announced (source: FIDASC).
