Hunting: Bologna, defined the refuge areas for the next 2014-2015 Hunting Season.
Ninety-six refuge areas approved for the next hunting season, in addition to thirty restocking and capture areas currently being defined. These protected areas, with purely faunal purposes, are present above all in the plains, while in the mountain area the areas of respect are privileged to allow the collection of ungulates.
The refuge areas valid for the next hunting season have also been approved this year. The Provincial Government adopted the resolution on July 3, 2014 (No. 253 reported at the link below), in time to allow adequate tables before the preparatory activities for the hunting real, such as dog training, which can be done from Sunday 17 August. With a specific act (resolution no. 252/2014) the protection regime for the areas that will be open to hunting was also revoked, in order to remove in this case the tables that would prevent the entry of hunters.
This year the refuge areas will be 96 throughout the province of Bologna, covering almost 13 thousand hectares. In addition to these areas dedicated to the stopover and temporary reproduction of wildlife, in the deed of the Province, there are the repopulation and capture areas for which the institution, renewal or modification procedure is underway, for another 30 institutes. and nearly 11 thousand hectares.
Few changes have been made to these protected areas compared to last year: the hunting area that includes the largest number of protected areas remains the Atc BO1 with 55 refuge areas and 18 repopulation areas; the BO2 follows with 35 refuges and 10 ZRC; last is the BO3 with 6 refuge areas and 2 restocking and capture areas. The diversity of numbers among the Bolognese ATCs is explained by the presence in the mountain and hilly areas of other protected areas that are much more consistent in size, such as regional parks, nature reserves and wildlife protection oases. In the whole Apennine area where ungulates are present, the choice pursued by the provincial administration, in recent years, has in fact been that of transforming as much as possible the areas with an absolute ban on hunting into areas where protection regimes coexist, for certain sedentary fauna species, alongside hunting practices considered of priority interest such as selection hunting for ungulates, compatible with partial but equally effective protection of wild animals. For these reasons, many areas of refuge and almost all the areas of repopulation and capture of the mountain have become areas of respect managed by the ATC with this dual purpose: the protection of "minor" fauna (hares, pheasants, partridges, partridges) and hunting. to wild boar, roe deer, deer and fallow deer to bring their population back to the densities envisaged by the provincial hunting plan.
