The Northern League section of Brescia intervenes on the Law Decree concerning simplifications in the field of firearms and takes sides in defense of hunting.
The Brescia provincial section of the Carroccio expressed its opinion on the Law Decree n. 5 of 9 February 2012 containing amendments to Article 42 of the Consolidated Law on Public Security regarding the duration of the firearms license, stating that it is necessary to defend "one of the most important traditions of the province of Brescia: hunting".
In particular, the changes in question concern the duration of the firearms license for hunting and skeet shooting which currently has a validity of six years but which, following the entry into force of the provisions of the Law Decree, would be reduced to annual validity.
According to the provincial secretary of the Northern League, Fabio Rolfi "If the decree is not modified and the provision that provides for a duration of 6 years for the firearms license for hunting and skeet shooting is not restored, the consequences would be disastrous both for the hunting activity, which would in fact be canceled, and for the tens of thousands of jobs in the arms sector and that connected to the hunting world that would be lacking in our province ".
In fact, the decree in question would bring more complications than simplifications whereas the Brescia Police Headquarters alone would have to deal with about 40 thousand annual renewal of the firearms license for hunting and skeet shooting; currently the annual estimate is about 7 thousand files, the handling of which already creates major problems due to the chronic shortage of staff in the Police Offices.
The Northern League deputy from Brescia, Davide Caparini, has proposed two amendments to the decree which have the aim of solving the problem that has arisen; in particular, Caparini affirms, "In the decree they generalized it is not expressly foreseen that we speak of shotguns for hunting use, so I did an amendment that explicitly excludes them so as to allow the license to remain valid for six to six years".
Continuing the deputy explains, “I did then a second amendment which directly eliminates the fact of the annual license also because this rule also applies to volley shooting. As conceived by the government, this rule more than simplifies, complicates ”.
Finally, Rolfi concludes satisfied, "We have moved once again in a swift and compact way to give those answers that the territory is asking for. We are in Rome for this very reason, to protect and defend the interests of the North ”.
