Hunting in Calabria. “The reform of the hunting law, especially after the reorganization of the functions for this matter already assigned to the Provinces and in the light of the constitution of the metropolitan city of Reggio Calabria, is one of the issues to be taken into serious consideration and for which we assure our political commitment and legislative". This is what the regional councilors Mauro D'Acri (delegated to take care of the sector for the regional council) and Arturo Bova (president of the Commission against the 'Ndrangheta) argued.
The occasion is the meeting (in which the manager Cosimo Caridi took part) held in recent days in the Regional Council and which was worth, first of all, to open an "institutional table" for discussion that will have to address the most pressing issues of the world of hunting aimed at identifying the most appropriate legislative and administrative solutions.
The meeting. D'Acri also announced the convocation for Wednesday 3 May at the Regional Citadel of the Hunting Faunal Council. The meeting, introduced by the president of Federcaccia Giuseppe Giordano (coordinator of the Calabrian hunting associations), took place three months after the sudden death of the head of the regional Federcaccia Gennaro Giuffrè, remembered "for his human skills and for having been the reference for many years of the Calabrian hunting world ".
We discussed the Regional Hunting Wildlife Plan, the voluntary hunting surveillance, the problems of the wildlife hunting companies, the regulation for wild boar hunting, the financial rules and the use of funds. In addition to D'Acri, Bova and Giordano (Federacaccia), Franco Felicetta, Libera Caccia, contributed to the debate; Bruno Zema, Anuu; Pasquale Martino Italcaccia; Carmine Spezzano, Eps; Domenico Di Masi (replacing the regional manager Giuseppe Angiò) Enalcaccia and Giuseppe Spoleti (representing the regional manager Antonio Paolillo) of Arcicaccia.
Giuseppe Giordano pointed out "issues and problems on which it is urgent to reflect and intervene promptly". In particular, Giordano stressed that “hunting does not absorb public resources, being a sector that is entirely self-financed. So - he added -, given that since 2010 the hunting associations have not received from the Region what they are entitled to, it is necessary to define the previous entitlements and at the same time determine the amount of resources that the Region has received from the taxes paid by the Calabrian hunters. Sums that must be used exclusively for planning the hunting sector ".
D'Acri and Bova, for their part, ensured "maximum attention" and the intention to "take charge, in synergy with the hunting associations, of the problems represented, from a political and institutional point of view, with the awareness" that it is necessary full cooperation to solve the problems, starting with the updating of the legislative provisions ". The shortage of personnel for the hunting department of the Department has not been overlooked, which "must absolutely be strengthened".
In outlining the issues to be addressed, particular importance was given to the Regional Hunting Wildlife Plan. “Prompted determinations” were requested for the “voluntary hunting surveillance”, considered “basic for every form of wildlife - environmental management and control”. On the wild boar emergency, according to the hunting associations, “we need to open a peaceful discussion free of prejudices and based on concrete elements of the wildlife management technique of the species”; in this sense, "the modification of the specification" was proposed.
