La Emilia Romagna region made public the final text of the Hunting Calendar 2023-2024, which was approved at the end of May. The calendar regulates the hunting season, establishing the opening and closing dates, as well as the hunting methods for different animal species. The hunting season will start on Sunday 17 September 2023 and will end on Wednesday 31 January 2024. During this period, different forms of hunting specific categories of wildlife will be permitted.
The hunting of sedentary wildlife, excluding ungulates and foxes, will be allowed in the following ways:
- Sunday 17 September – Sunday 1 October: stalking and/or stalking, even with the use of no more than two dogs per hunter, on two fixed days (Thursday and Sunday) each week.
- Monday 2 October – Sunday 3 December: stalking and/or stalking, even with the use of no more than two dogs per hunter, on three days of your choice each week.
- Monday 4 December – Wednesday 31 January 2024 (only in the Azienda Faunistico Venatoria): stalking and/or wandering hunting, even with the use of no more than two dogs per hunter, on three days of your choice each week.
For the hunting of migratory fauna, with the exception of woodcock, the following modes have been established:
- Sunday 17 September – Sunday 1 October: stalking and/or stalking, even with the use of no more than two dogs per hunter, on two fixed days (Thursday and Sunday) each week.
- Monday 2 October – Sunday 3 December: stalking and/or stalking, even with the use of no more than two dogs per hunter, on three days of your choice each week.
- Monday 4 December – Wednesday 31 January: stalking and/or wandering hunting, even with the use of no more than two pointing or tracking dogs per hunter, on three days of your choice each week. Hunting of roaming migratory fauna is permitted throughout the territory south of the foothill line indicated in Attachment F. To the north of this line, hunting can be practiced along the watercourses indicated in Attachment G, within 50 meters from the shoreline or within the river floodplain, and in AFV throughout the territory.
Woodcock hunting will follow the following procedures:
- Sunday 1st October – Sunday 3rd December: stalking with the use of no more than two pointing or tracking dogs per hunter, on three days of your choice each week.
- Monday 4 December – Saturday 20 January 2024: stalking with the use of no more than two pointing or tracking dogs per hunter, on three days of your choice each week. South of the foothill line indicated in Attachment F, hunting can be practiced throughout the territory or in the areas specifically authorized by the ATC. North of this line, hunting can only be practiced along the watercourses indicated in Attachment G, within 50 meters of the shoreline or within the river floodplain, and in AFV throughout the territory.
For fox hunting, the following modalities have been established:
- Sunday 17th September – Sunday 1st October: random sampling by the single hunter on two fixed days (Thursday and Sunday) each week.
- Monday 2nd October – Sunday 3rd December: random picking by the individual hunter on three days of his choice each week.
- Monday 4 December – Wednesday 31 January 2024: hunting in teams authorized by the ATC and/or AFV, organized according to regional criteria, with the help of tracking dogs, on three days of your choice each week.
- Sunday 17 September 2023 - Wednesday 31 January 2024: taking from a stakeout with a rifled weapon equipped with a sighting optics by the single hunter with proven experience. Hunting can be practiced on two fixed days (Thursday and Sunday) each week from 17 September to 1 October and on three days of your choice each week from 2 October to 31 January. In the areas north of the foothill line indicated in Annex F, hunting can only be practiced from adequately elevated shooting points using structures such as roof terraces and tree-stands or landscape elements such as embankments to ensure shooting safety.
ungulate hunting, it is preferable to use non-toxic ammunition and follow the withdrawal plans approved by the Region. Each hunter can hunt ungulates selectively, by stalking and stalking, for a maximum of five days a week. In the areas north of the foothill line indicated in Annex F, ungulate hunting can only be practiced from adequately elevated shooting points using structures such as roof terraces and tree-stands or landscape elements such as embankments to ensure shooting safety.
Infine, per wild boar hunting in collective form, withdrawal plans approved by the Region are permitted for a maximum of three consecutive months. In the ATCs, hunting is permitted on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, while in the AFVs on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Furthermore, wild boar hunting is allowed with the girata method in three days of your choice. To ensure surveillance and health monitoring of regional wildlife, hunters are provided with numbered coupons to be used on shot animals before moving from the hunting area.
