The Provincial Council of Florence has approved the rules on the 2012-2013 Hunting Calendar for the next hunting season. The general structure remains that of the previous years, except for some substantial changes concerning the selection hunt dictated by the recent modification of the regional legislation.
The definition of the calendar was particularly complex as regards ungulates and selection hunting due to the changes made to the Regional Law 20/2002 for the appeal to the Constitutional Court which made the opinion of the ISPRA (Istituto Superiore per la Protection and Environmental Research) on the sampling plans and periods, a choice that was confirmed by the Regional Council which decided on the timing on July 24th.
The Vice President of the Province of Florence with responsibility for hunting, Laura Cantini, commented on the presentation of the new Hunting Calendar, "A change that worries both the Province and the ATC (Territorial Areas of Hunting) but also farmers, environmentalists and the same hunters ".
Continuing Cantini explained, “It was difficult but we managed to get the approval of the calendar in good time, even if I do not hide the concerns that have been expressed by all the associations participating in the Consulta Caccia table and by the ATCs. In particular, due to the repercussions that the new measures will have on the effectiveness of the containment of ungulates both in terms of damage to crops and road accidents ".
The Vice President continued then affirmed, "In recent years we have already made every effort to deal with the ungulate emergency, and this year we will in any case try to continue the commitment, also putting in place innovative tools not tested so far".
Finally, Cantini concluded "It seems only right to thank the associations, both agricultural and environmental, the hunting world and the ATCs for the contribution they gave in the consultation and in any case for the daily commitment to a correct management of the fauna".
According to the new 2012-2013 Hunting Calendar, the opening date of the hunt is set for Sunday 16 September for sedentary fauna (pheasant, hare) while for other species it will start on 1 August.
It will be possible to collect wild boar in the area dedicated to the species from 15 October 2012 to 15 January 2013 and in the non-suitable area from 2012 October 31 to 2012 December 2012. Boar hunting is allowed from 31 November 2013 to XNUMX January in the Wildlife Hunting Companies. XNUMX.
