The provincial hunting calendar for the 2012/2013 season was adopted yesterday by the Provincial Council. The document has essentially maintained the structure of previous years, with the first appointment, represented by the start of dog training, which remains fixed for the first Sunday in August. Therefore, starting from Sunday 5 August, hunters will be able, each in their own area of competence, to resume the training and training of auxiliaries, every day (except Tuesdays and Fridays) from 7 to 20.
This activity in some Sites of Community Importance will begin on 12 August, while it will not be possible in the Special Protection Areas (along the Po) until 1 September. The approved text also confirms the pre-opening to turtledove, practiced by the ATC PC1, PC2 and PC6 on 2, 6 and 9 September, up to 13 pm and with a maximum daily game bag limit of 5 animals.
This activity is not allowed in the Special Protection Areas. The general opening, both of the small sedentary game (with the exception of the Gray Partridge prohibited in all ATCs), and of the Wild Boar, will take place on 16 September. In the first two weeks it will be possible to practice the activity only until 13 and exclusively on Thursday and Sunday.
The limitation of the seasonal game bag of pheasants is confirmed, while the periods of closure and opening of the red partridge and the game bags have in some cases been modified according to the results of the censuses carried out in the ATC: where the populations have shown a satisfactory tendency to increase the harvesting period or the bags have been increased, while they have been reduced where populations have decreased.
All ATCs have decided to maintain the adoption of a summary sheet supplementing the regional card which must be returned to the Area at the end of the season. This tool proved to be very useful in providing timely information on the progress of the business and allowing for the necessary management adjustments.
For wild boar, the application of the safety rules for the protection of the participants in the sweat hunt and the users of the territory continues, with the placement of delimitation tables of the hunted areas and the advertising of the hunting calendars. Hunters and companions who for any reason enter the hunted areas must wear high visibility jackets.
Finally, it should be remembered that in the Special Protection Areas (which in the province of Piacenza are substantially located within the main embankment of the Po, on the Trebbia and on the Nure), migratory hunts in January, both wandering and stalking, cannot in any case be carried out. for more than two fixed days: Thursday and Sunday.
In these areas, moreover, until October 1, a duck other than the Mallard cannot be shot and ammunition with lead shot may not be used less than 150 meters from streams and bodies of water.
"In a context of important changes in the regulatory and jurisprudential framework, which have affected hunting in recent years, we have succeeded in giving substantial continuity to the choices made in recent years, testifying to the validity of the management activity carried out up to now - comments the Provincial councilor for wildlife protection and surveillance Filippo Pozzi - this activity aims to pursue a substantial objective, to reconcile the needs of hunting enthusiasts, allowing them congruous loot, with those of farmers and environmentalists, guaranteeing the transparency of choices, but without increasing the bureaucratic tasks for the hunters. We also confirm the early opening for dog training and the faculty, at the head of the Atc, to recognize the use of the suit, for the particular attention we keep towards the dog world: a sustainable activity from the territory and the environment and of qualifying cultural contents. Finally, I would like to underline the effort made by the Administration to homogenize hunting periods for the various species at the provincial level ”.
