Closing earlier than expected
Early closure of thrushes, woodcock and all aquatic birds hunting. For the hunters of Emilia-Romagna, the most feared news has arrived in these hours; the Bonaccini junta would be ready to modify the Monday morning hunting calendar 2022/2023 in the part relating to the early closure of the hunting of migratory species, effectively incorporating the contents of the sentence of the Council of State of 21 October last.
Pompignoli's words
The regional councilor of the League, Massimiliano Pompignoli, retraced the sad story: "in October, numerous animal and environmentalist associations presented an appeal to the TAR against the hunting calendar of Emilia Romagna, contesting the closure of the hunting of thrushes and woodcock fixed by the Region January 19 and that for all water birds on January 20, referring to the non-binding opinion of Ispra and the suggestion of early closure of these species on December 31. In the first instance, the TAR rejected the request for suspension, agreeing with the hunting associations and the Region. But the persistence of the animal rights associations has not ended; the same contested the suspension before the Council of State which, with an order of 21 October 2022, agreed with them, anticipating the closure of the levy for woodcock, thrushes and all water birds.
One month less withdrawal
“This means that for our hunters almost a month of taking these species is missing and that once again the blind and instrumental hatred of animal rights and environmentalist associations prevails towards people who not only carry out an activity intended for law but who act in defense of the balance of our rural ecosystem.” "At this point" - adds Pompignoli - "the fear is that the Region will change the calendar by virtue of the provisions of the Council of State, although the hearing on the merits requested by the latter at the TAR has not yet been set and that the deadline is the end of December. I therefore ask Assessor Mammi to wait, to assert the hunters' reasons by urging his own lawyers. In Tuscany, on the same matter, the administrative justice has always expressed itself in favor of the hunting world, rejecting the requests of animal rights associations and their unjustifiable aversion. There is still time to hope that the same judgment will prevail in our Region as well."
