Hunting in Umbria: The TAR of Umbria, in today's Council Chamber, has confirmed the suspension of pre-opening hunting for the garganey species.
This was communicated by the regional councilor for hunting and fishing, Fernanda Cecchini, specifying that for the Administrative Court of Umbria the reasons given by the association 'Victims of hunting', regarding the closing dates, were not deemed sufficient to issue a suspension of the collection of partridge and hare species. Consequently, the judges of the TAR postponed the handling of the appeal relating to this point to April 29, 2015. “As happened on Monday 1st and Sunday 7th September - explains the commissioner Cecchini - hunting for garganey will also be prohibited on Sunday 14th. From 21 September, the opening of the hunting season, we will go hunting according to what is defined in the calendar approved by the regional council, confirming the correctness of the choices made ". The commissioner, recalled that "taking note of the precautionary petition of the administrative judges who accepted the appeal of the 'Victims of hunting' association regarding the inclusion of garganey among those huntable in the pre-opening days, 1, 7 and 14 September, the Umbria Region in precautionary form had already provided for the suspension of hunting for the species in these three days ".
“The validity of the regional calendar and of the choices contained therein: we will therefore go hunting - concludes the commissioner - according to the rules and methods that the Region has defined, pursuing the protection and enhancement of fauna and the environment, in full compliance with the regulations in force ".
