The Councilor for Agriculture and Hunting of the Province of Viterbo, Franco Simeone, disputes the objections by some hunters who define the new regulation for wild boar hunting prepared by the Province as "undemocratic".
The commissioner defends the new regulation with the sword and responds to those who make the accusations: "Defining the new regulation for wild boar hunting undemocratic is absurd and offensive to those who worked on its drafting and adoption".
Simeone continues: “How can an instrument resulting from consultation with hunting and agricultural associations and with the managers of the two ATCs in Tuscia be defined as undemocratic? And again, is it permissible to define undemocratic a regulation that, after being examined by the technical bodies, for the first time ever was unanimously approved by the competent council commission and by the provincial council, without exception? Is it perhaps undemocratic to have established the management districts, territorial districts to which the management operations of the species will be assigned and in particular the activities of damage prevention and disposal of carcasses? "
The commissioner continues: “Is it undemocratic to have established strict rules to guarantee the safety of all hunters? Someone misses the fact that the hunt for boar for our territory it is closely linked to the need to prevent damage to agricultural crops caused by this type of ungulates. At a time when local authorities have less and less financial resources to meet the compensation claims made by farmers, selective hunting remains the best and most effective way to prevent and limit damage by wild boars. In this sense, therefore, the decision to authorize the jokes also on the days before holidays and holidays should be read ”.
Finally Simeone concludes: “The wild boar hunting it will officially open in November and the Province has already made it known that no pre-opening will be authorized in October. For all the other species, the hunting season began on 18 September. It therefore seems to me entirely pretext to denounce the risk of seeing reduced spaces for other hunters. Furthermore, precisely with the aim of not reducing the land useful for hunting other species, we have foreseen in the regulation the possibility of bringing together several teams of "wild boar" in the same area ".
