Hunting: FederFauna calls for anti-ecoterrorism measures in the Security Decree

The association asked for it after yet another shameful act against hunting: two young people belonging to the ALF vandalized a shed.

The news of thearrest of two animal rights activists who attacked a hunting post in Cremasco. The two have devastated everything possible and gouged out the decoy birds, condemning them to certain death, since they are animals not used to living in nature. As usual, an action performed not with the sole purpose of damaging a structure, the hut, and the hunter its owner (the three would not even know each other), but to hit a symbolic target and perhaps intimidate all the hunters, or to obtain from the institutions the law against hunting that has been talked about so much in recent weeks .

As usual, the two attackers signed each other "ALF" (acronym for Animal liberation front), the animal rights organization that is cataloged as a "terrorist" in America and in many other countries (including Europeans), and which seems to be financed by other animal rights associations that present themselves instead clean and unrelated to crimes and can thus collect donations from individuals and organizations in good faith. Yet, even this time, there is no mention of "ecoterrorism". The two were allegedly arrested by the Carabinieri of Crema on charges of aggravated theft, aggravated damage and wearing of tools suitable for burglary. Fortunately, it would appear that the judge considered the plea bargaining request to one year of imprisonment to be inappropriate proposed by their lawyer and postponed the sentence to next October 31, but it seems probable that, once again, for the two, even if caught in the act, there will not be such heavy consequences.

The problem is always the same: our system does not foresee the crime of “ecoterorism”. Art. 270 sexies of the Criminal Code (conducted with the purpose of terrorism) establishes that "Conduct that (omitted) is carried out for the purpose of intimidate the population o force the public powers or an international organization to perform or refrain from carrying out any act or destabilize or destroy the fundamental political, constitutional, economic and social structures of a country (omissis), but not that among the reasons there may also be animalist or ecological ideology.

A serious gap that FederFauna has been pointing out for years and that leaves room for a phenomenon that has now become a threat for Made in Italy (livestock production), for research and public health (universities and animal shelters), for culture (circus, entertainment , zoo, palii) and more generally for the safety of millions of citizens. This is why FederFauna now turns to Minister Salvini, which he has just obtained the approval of the Security Decree by his signature, which already provides for measures against terrorism in general, but nothing on that of an animal-abientalist matrix, so that in the 60 days of conversion into law, he finds the system to enter the specific type of crime, so as to provide the law enforcement agencies have adequate means to combat it and guarantee the safety of businesses and citizens.
