A rich and varied programme
Nature in the foreground, looked at from different points of view: that of fishing, that of hunting, that of environmental education and that of tourism. It has a rich program, “Hunting, fishing, nature”. The national fair of products, equipment and services for hunting and sport fishing will be held in Longarone Dolomites Fairs from 12 to 14 April, with different moments. In the center, the 27th Hunter's Festival and the 20th National Taxidermy Competition. But then also many in-depth and scientific events on various aspects of environmental and wildlife management.
Nature element
«After Agrimont, the first fair of the year, with “Hunting, fishing, nature” the spring of sustainability is completed» said the president of Longarone Fiere Dolomiti, Michele Dal Farra, presenting the event in a press conference, together with the president of the Province of Belluno, Roberto Padrin, and to the president of the Veneto Regional Council Roberto Ciambetti. «Through these events, our exhibition center brings together the environment, people and economies, three pillars that alone would not fit together. “Hunting, fishing, nature” for years has increasingly focused on the nature element as the fulcrum of our mountain area. Because behind nature there are different aspects, from hunting to fishing to tourism, which will be covered in depth during the three days of the fair. I like to see Longarone Fiere Dolomiti as the place where high-level content is created and not just a trade fair for goods." «Longarone Fiere has set in motion a path of qualification and organizational excellence that distinguishes it at a national level. And it can also be seen in the "Hunting, fishing, nature" program" said the president of the regional council Ciambetti. «The enormous activity of research, culture and transmission of information that is carried out during the three days of the fair is important for the entire Veneto Region, which believes in the work of this fair centre».
The pavilions dedicated to hunting
At the center of the event, as tradition dictates, is the Hunter's Festival, now in its 27th edition. An entire pavilion will be dedicated to the display of trophies from the 2023-2024 hunting season and to the tasting of typical dishes. But it will also be an opportunity to delve deeper into the state of health of wildlife, to illustrate some innovations in wildlife censuses (thanks to the Provincial Police who introduced the use of camera traps and artificial intelligence on an experimental basis), and to understand the latest innovations introduced by the Region to prevent the spread of African swine fever among wild boars. The world of nature's protagonists will come to life in a diorama curated by taxidermists, on the occasion of the National Taxidermy Competition. And for those who want to try, there will be the possibility of testing compressed air rifles in a special shooting area.
The pavilions dedicated to fishing
On the fishing front, particular attention will be paid to the waterways damaged by Vaia and to the nourishment interventions of the marble trout fish population, thanks to the increasingly close collaboration between fishing basins and associations, the Province and the Veneto Region. The synergy with Fipsas (Italian Federation of Sport Fishing and Underwater Activities) is important, as in a dedicated area it will offer recreational and educational activities for young people with two multimedia reel fishing simulators and stations for magnetic fishing. The "Adopt a watercourse" drawing competition will return again this year, associated with the environmental education proposal carried out in schools by the fishing basins federation. «We will also have an in-depth analysis of the possibilities for tourism development linked to fishing» added the president of the Province, Roberto Padrin. «A focus created by the Dmo Dolomiti which will allow us to understand the potential of this sporting practice in the Belluno Dolomites».
Nature and formation
And then space for nature and education. “Hunting, fishing, nature” will in fact open from the beginning (Friday 12th at 15pm at the Congress Center) with a very scientific slant, with a refresher course dedicated mainly to journalists on the topics of climate change and the effects on the wildlife of the Dolomites . Special guest is the climatologist Luca Mercalli. (Source Longarone Fiere Dolomiti)
