Hunting in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The Regional Wildlife Committee, which met yesterday in Udine at the regional headquarters and chaired by the councilor for the Hunting of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Paolo Panontin, gave a positive opinion (10 votes in favor and 2 against) to the postponed opening to next 9 October of the hunting male black grouse and to the early closure of November 7th and has limited hunting days to six to make hunting activities sustainable.
The suspension of the hunting for the rock partridge, the ptarmigan and the white hare. The opinion took into account the findings of the Regional Hunting and Fish Resources Service on the faunal situation, on certain sample areas, useful for verifying the compatibility of the hunting sampling with the conservation of the species.
The monitoring carried out this year revealed, in the period between 4 and 26 August, in the hunting reserves of Paularo, Prato Carnico, Tramonti, Venzone and in the two protected areas of Val Collina and in the repopulation and capture area of Trasaghis , 20 adult males of black grouse, 27 females and 49 young.
On the basis of these data, as explained by the technicians of the service, the reproductive success index can be determined which, in this case, is 1,81 and on which limitations or suspension of sampling can be established. The minimum threshold below which hunting should be suspended is less than 1,5.
The results of the monitoring therefore indicate to maintain a limited hunting pressure for the black grouse while for the rock partridge (with the data collected in the same areas that recorded 13 adults and 44 young), considering that the species is characterized by a range very fragmented with rather small single meta-populations, the proposal to suspend hunting was accepted.
On the other hand, the opinions on the management plans of the special conservation area (Zsc) “confluence of the Torre and Natisone rivers” and of the special protection area (SPA) and Zsc “mouths of the Isonzo-Isola della Cona” have been postponed.
