The exercise of the hunt is legally allowed to the hunter who regularly possesses the following documentation:
Valid license in port of shotgun for hunting use. This document is issued by the Police Headquarters to all citizens who request it, who have reached the age of eighteen and who have passed the qualifying examination to practice hunting. This exam is taken for the first release and in case of revocation of the license. The license has a duration of 6 years and is not renewed automatically but upon the request of the holder, associated with specific medical documentation of eligibility. The document issued by a State body is valid throughout the national territory.
Insurance policy. Its purpose is to guarantee civil liability towards third parties for any damage caused by the handling of weapons during the exercise of the hunt. The law defines ceilings of 1.000.000.0000 lire divided into 750.000.000 lire for personal injury and 250.000.000 lire for damage to animals and property.
There is also an accident prevention policy for the hunter with a ceiling of 100.000.000 lire. The hunting associations deal with this aspect by proposing specific and extended insurance packages compared to the minimum ones required by law. In addition to hunting associations - hunters' unions - most insurance companies offer insurance policies for hunting.
Hunting card issued by each Region, it has the purpose of monitoring hunting throughout the entire hunting season.
The pursuit of hunting throughout the the first year after obtaining the license must be carried out in the company of another hunter who has had it for at least three years in order to perfect the neophyte on the practice of safe handling of weapons.
