Hunt: Government crackdown on the people of shotguns. "From today it will no longer be possible to hunt the song thrush, the cesena and the woodcock throughout the national territory". Thousands of Italian hunters who find themselves at a limitation of their respective hunting calendar have been disappointed.
Indeed "From today it will no longer be possible to hunt the song thrush, Cesena and woodcock throughout the national territory". Thus reads the press release issued by the Council of Ministers;
The note continues: “The European Commission has in fact contested the violation of Directive 2009/147 / EC on the conservation of wild birds, which prohibits hunting during nesting and breeding periods. Taking into account that the so-called "pre-nuptial migration" that precedes nesting is already underway in the second decade of January and considering that in many Italian regions it is still possible to hunt these migratory species until January 31, the Ministry of environment has long urged the regions to adapt to the times required by the European Union, but not all regions have followed up on the reminder ”.
“For this reason - explains the communiqué of the CdM n. 45 of 20 January 2015-, on the proposal of the Minister of the Environment, Gian Luca Galletti, the Council of Ministers approved the exercise of the substitute power provided for by article 8, paragraph 4, of law no. 5, towards the regions of Liguria, Tuscany, Umbria, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Veneto, Marche, Puglia by ordering the modification of the hunting calendar and the closure of hunting for the species song thrush, cesena and woodcock starting January 20, 2015". The Lazio Region had already adapted a few days ago.
