Hunting: the national hunting associations criticize the "commitment" of some politicians aimed at contrasting the hunting activity with the help of live calls, "Hunting YES, infringement procedures, NO thanks!".
While Italy and its citizens have the priority to emerge from the crisis, a part of the political class has dedicated its attention to abolishing what is assumed to exist in other European countries: hunting with live calls. The reasonableness and the "arguments" brought with "abundance" of technical-scientific supports by the recognized national hunting associations (Federcaccia, Enalcaccia, Arci Caccia, Liberacaccia, ANUUMigratoristi) to the Political Forces and to the Government a few days ago on the occasion of the discussion in the Chamber of Deputies of the Community, have allowed to repel a "lethal attack" on traditions of hunting Italian and European species recognized to some species of migratory birdlife. Legal activities in all other countries have been the subject of instrumental actions of "ineffective voter hunting" by politicians careful to survive. The Hunting Associations, strong in being the bearers of the general interests of Italian citizens, presented on that occasion to the Government and Parliament proposals useful for protecting cultures and traditions and also for defusing the "infringement procedure" initiated in this matter by Europe also through undue "pressure" to go beyond what is provided for in the Directive only to respond to biased and spurious requests from some animal rights groups that have always been committed to denigrating Italy.
Unfortunately, what was approved by Parliament with the "Comunitaria bis" with a large majority vote, did not find acceptance or full correspondence in the Law Decree n. 91 of 24 June which, in some respects, has certainly not resolved the question, but rather has created confusion and uncertainty on the issue of limits to the detention of live calls, entering into conflict with the same Directive to which it wanted to give an answer. This is the consequence of the lack of comfort deriving from all the elements of common sense that are always necessary when an effective application of a regulation is desired.
The Decree published in the Gazette is a Law and the Ministry should give immediate clarifications to avoid that in the next few hours its application produces interpretations that harm the interests of those who legitimately and regularly denounce host calls to their homes, putting at risk the existence of these animals which, of course, are not in a position to live without the intervention of the man who raises and cares for them.
The Hunting Associations are now inviting the Parliamentary Groups that will accompany the "conversion process" of the Law Decree in the coming days to implement the necessary corrections to allow for detention and breeding, overcoming the unjustified limits referred to in the Decree. To this end, they will promote the most appropriate awareness-raising initiatives and any useful action to protect a form of traditional hunting unjustly and repeatedly made the subject of unjustified and spurious attacks, providing the legislator with all the widest and most complete documentation, involving where necessary also the bodies responsible for European level, in support of a different and non-penalizing solution to the problem recalls.
