Dignity and perspective to the sector
“We have approved the 2024/25 Hunting Calendar in the Council Campania region. It has been a long journey which saw the involvement of all interested parties. We can say that we have a participatory and shared tool at our disposal, characterized by solutions that respect all sensitivities and capable of giving dignity and perspective to a strategic sector for the Campania region". This was announced by Nicola Caputo, Councilor for Agriculture of the Campania Region on the sidelines of the meeting of the Campania Regional Council
The wording of the text
Sharing and balance are the words describing the new rules for wildlife sampling in the Campania Region, in line with the Wildlife Plan that the Region has just adopted. We continue in the wake of common sense and the technical-scientific indications received from the OFVR, the Regional Technical Faunistic Hunting Committee and the sector associations. The formulation of the calendar, taking into account the indications produced, provides:
– The pre-opening of hunting only for opportunistic species, such as corvids and wood pigeons, as indicated by Ispra.
– General opening on the third Sunday of September: for thurds and woodcock it will start in October, ending for the thurds in the second ten days of January and for the woodcock in the third ten days.
– For ducks, we will leave on the third Sunday of September, with differentiated closures, between 20 and 30 January, between the different families
– For wild boar, in implementation of the recent national legislative change, the sampling period has been extended to 4 months: it will start in October and end in January.
– In implementation of the precautionary regime, as indicated by Ispra, the turtle dove and the pochard were eliminated from the collection by closing the hunting season on 30 January and not taking advantage of the derogatory period of February.
– The requests of the agricultural sector have been accepted regarding pre-opening hunting of opportunistic corvid species and for the temporal extension of collective harvesting of wild boar
Correct regional planning
“With the Wildlife Plan first and with the Hunting Calendar now, – concludes the Councilor for Agriculture Nicola Caputo – we are aiming for correct regional planning in terms of suitability and destination of the territory, to guarantee a sustainable and acceptable harvest as indicated also by President De Luca. In a difficult context, which takes into account the wildlife emergencies of our region, these tools will deal with complex problems such as crop damage and African swine fever on a daily basis, laying the foundations for modern and sustainable management of our wildlife heritage. Thanks also go to the hunting associations for their contribution and to the Hunting Team who supported me in the concertation activities". (Source CAMPANIA REGION COUNCIL)
