Hunting: In Lombardy, the Regional Council rejected the request for an urgent procedure for the draft law on Hunting in derogation.
The Lombardy Regional Council has rejected the request for an urgent procedure for the discussion of the draft law on hunting in derogation for the next hunting season which will open in September. The urgent procedure had been requested by the Udc group leader, Gianmarco Quadrini, who together with the councilors Valerio Bettoni (Udc) and Carlo Saffioti (Pdl) had signed a pdl according to which the hunting withdrawal was authorized in derogation to European regulations, of some protected species.
The urgent procedure presented by the UDC group leader was rejected with 31 votes against and 10 in favor. The draft law will now have to return to the commission in September “with the risk - according to what Quadrini himself underlines - that the law will arrive late compared to the dates scheduled for the next hunting season. The majority - observes Quadrini - was also repeated in the courtroom, rejecting a request for urgent treatment of the provision on hunting in derogation even though there were all the trappings for a law to be made as the Veneto Region will do tomorrow ".
“It remains a political mystery - observes the UDC exponent - the fact that the League, and in tow the PDL, insist on opposing hunting in derogation. We would not like - he concludes - that at the resumption, after the summer break, we find ourselves in commission a similar bill signed by the League and promoted only to assume paternity in front of the hunters ”.
