The hunting season in Basilicata will start on 18 September 2022 and will end on 29 January 2023.
The hunting calendar approved by the Executive with a resolution proposed by the Councilor for Agricultural, Forestry and Food Policies Francesco Cupparo. Among the most significant innovations is the introduction with regard to the turtle dove hunting of a system for monitoring the sampling through an App which will verify in real time in every hunting day the withdrawals made and will suspend them when the maximum withdrawal plan of 899 turtledoves is reached, providing timely communication to all hunters registered on the App (compulsory registration) through specific notification. All hunters who have collected the “2022-2023 Regional Hunting Card” can access the App made available to the Basilicata Region for free.
Environmental improvements are also planned for wildlife purposes, in order to improve and / or restore conditions favorable to the species. Wild boar hunting is allowed from 15 October 2022 to 15 January 2023 exclusively as part of a team and only hunted and hunted with the exclusive use of lead-free ammunition, on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The deadline for registering wild boar hunting teams is September 15, 2022. The occasional killing of wild boars in individual form is allowed, without the aid of wild boar dogs, exclusively outside the Management Districts.
The Steering Committee of each Territorial Hunting Area, by 30 September 2022 transmits its provision of transposition of the Regional Directive to the competent Office of the Directorate General for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies. Furthermore, for wild boar selection hunting (Sus Scrofa), the selection of wild boar species is allowed in implementation of a specific selective culling plan, drawn up by the Region after obtaining a favorable opinion from the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research. The hunting season for the wood pigeon species (Columba palumbus) begins on 1 October 2022 and ends on 9 February 2023. Exclusively on the days of 1, 3, 4, 7, 10, 11, 14, 17 September 2022 only hunters resident and domiciled in Basilicata, only from temporary stalking, are allowed to collect the species: magpie (Pica pica), hooded crow (Corvus corone cornix) and jay (Garrulus glanadarius).
Significant news for the turtle dove hunting with the introduction of a system for monitoring the withdrawal through App which will check in real time in every hunting day.
The daily collection is allowed for a maximum of 5 animals of the turtledove species (Streptopelia turtur), exclusively on the days of 1, 4 and 10 September 2022 for only hunters resident and domiciled in Basilicata, through temporary posting and limited to environments with the presence of stubble, in uncultivated areas along watercourses, along tree-lined canals and outside wooded areas. For hunters not resident and not domiciled in Basilicata, access to AA.TT.CC. It is allowed from 1 October 2022 to 29 January 2023 limited to the hunting of migratory species. Starting next week, the cards will be distributed to the municipalities that will deliver them to the hunters. From the analysis of the data of the badges issued in recent years, to hunters residing in the Basilicata Region and of the permits issued by the AATTCC to extra-regional hunters, it appears that the number of hunters has decreased by at least 25% in Basilicata (source: Basilicata region).
