Hunting: Brescia, the mountain community of Gargnano wants the territory of the Alto Garda Park not suitable for the presence of wild boars, implicitly limiting their collection; hunters rise up.
The president of the mountain community of Gargnano sul Garda, Davide Pace, recently asked the Lombardy Region that the entire territory of the Alto Garda Park be declared unsuitable for the presence of boars; this request implicitly limits the collection of wild boars with the "hunted" technique, thus causing the discontent of the hunters in the area who see the draft of the agreement with the Park Authority and Ersaf prepared on 14 February during a meeting to find a solution to the wild boar problem in Alto Garda.
Against the decision of the Mountain Community, on the side of the hunters, also the new regional councilor Fabio Rolfi who in an official note stated, “I find the resolution of President Pace totally wrong and also counterproductive. I believe that the problems must be addressed by weighing every single choice. Declaring the territory of the Park unsuitable for the presence of wild boars would mean penalizing hunters in a completely disproportionate way and would not allow the "collection" with the system of hunted. If we analyze the data relating to the 2012 slaughter in Alto Garda, we see that out of 450 animals taken, more than 400 were slaughtered in that way ".
Continuing with the hypothesis of the elimination of this form of hunting, with the numbers of the past Venatori Season in hand, Rolfi explained, “We would have found 1200 more animals, with consequences that I dare not imagine for the agricultural world. The excessive number of wild boars is a problem that must instead be solved by encouraging containment operations and imagining a legislative path that can enhance the production of wild boar meat in the upper Garda area. One problem cannot be solved by causing another and the total opposition expressed by the hunting associations and local administrations shows that this is not the way to go ".
Already a few years ago, following the approval of the law that instituted a ban on hunting in nature reserves, there were protests and riots therefore there was a re-measurement of the territory of the Park in order to identify an area where hunting can be practiced. Today the President of the Province, Daniele Molgora, is expected to arrive at the mountain community of Gargnano to discuss a possible solution to the question.
