Almost two and a half months after the presentation of the joint technical proposal by the recognized regional hunting associations, (FEDERCACCIA, ANLC, ENALCACCIA, ARCICACCIA, ANUU, ITALCACCIA, EPS), corroborated by technical-scientific documents and data provided primarily by the Studies and Research Department of Federcaccia; and from the discussion in the first session of the Faunal-Hunting Consultation, finally the Regional Council approves the Hunting calendar. There are 5 pre-opening days, set in days 1, 3, 4, 11 and 14 September, which will allow the removal of wood pigeon and magpie in the first three and the possibility of using retriever dogs. On the additional two days of 11 and 14 September, as well as wood pigeon and magpie, the removal of the quail is added, with the help of the pointing dog and search as well as retrieving. The opening date remains unchanged on the third Sunday of September (18 September) with closing on 30 January for anatidae, slows and foxes. The collection dates with opening October 2nd and closing January 30th for turdidae have remained unchanged, while for woodcock from 15 October to 19 January.
Maintained the dates 2 October - 31 December for the collection of the lark species and from 18 September - 31 December for the blackbird, from 18 September to 30 November for the pheasant and in addition to the pre-opening wood pigeon and magpie will be hunted continuously from 18 September to 14 January. For hare hunting from 18th September to 19th December. Maintained the extension of the collection of some species (hooded crow and jay) in the ten days of February. For the latter and for the species inserted in pre-opening, the opening / closing dates must unfortunately be compulsorily adjusted with respect to the latest rulings of the Constitutional Court on the application of the maximum time frame, with reference to a law article of the Liguria Region.
For the wild boar species in the hope that the new parliament will come out of sloth and finally decide on the modification of 157 with an adequate temporal extension beyond the current three months, the hunted hunting sampling can be carried out. from 1st October to 31st December. As far as dog training and training is concerned, this will be allowed from the publication of the calendar until 10 September, except, as is obvious, in the pre-opening days mentioned above. In acknowledging the Assessor and the Department for having accepted most of the proposals of the AA.VV. with regard to the species and hunting times, it must be reiterated the disappointment for the lack of insertion of the turtledove in pre-opening due to the failure to complete the optical reading of the badges in the last five years as required by the national management plan.
For this reason, what has already been expressly requested in consultation is reiterated, recalling the commitment of the Assessor and Regional Director to obtain the data before the end of the month and to recover with the inclusion in the calendar of the turtle dove with a supplementary resolution. A similar total disappointment cannot fail to be expressed with reference to Vinca, with an effect on the Areas of the Natura 2000 Network, which is once again penalizing, even with 4 additional SAC areas inhibited from hunting, 2 in the province of Cosenza (Fiume Lese and Fiumara Trionto) and 2 in the province of Crotone (Monte Fuscaldo and Murge di Strongoli). We remind you that since last year the commission of the Environment Department has taken an unjustified approach it had already inhibited as many as 15 SACs on the regional territory: 5 in the province of Cosenza, 2 in the province of Crotone, 1 in the province of Vibo, 5 in the province of Reggio Calabria.
We also remind you that in the province of Catanzaro the La Vota lakes remain inhibited, which are in a state of pollution due to lack of water exchange and in recent times even subjected to preventive seizure for the serious breaches of the managers. On this point we will ask for clarity and documents from the Region, so diligent in inhibiting hunting but evidently not so diligent in making decisions in the service of biodiversity. The absolute ban on hunting in SAC areas is not justified, considering that these areas are designated under the Habitat directive, which does not concern birds, and what negative influences the hunting activity would have on habitats or on animal species other than birds are not mentioned in the justifications.
Even the analysis of the list of inhibited SACs does not report technical elements that support the hunting ban, while we find the prescription of no hunting of turtledove in the Natura 2000 Network areas, considering that compared to last year, the International Management Plan is in force with the sole prescription of the reduction of the levy and no mention of limitations to be imposed on Natura 2000 sites. This overall approach can only be defined as ideological against hunting and in fact it will prevent many hunters from exercising their passion in the territories that have always been known and frequented. A preventive discussion on VINCA with the Calabrian AAVV would have instead allowed to find shared solutions, without reaching absolutely unjustified prohibitions. Net of the limitations referred to in Vinca, is therefore a substantially balanced calendar, which responds in principle to general expectations and which above all has taken into account the results resulting from the discussion and consultation tables (source: Hunting Federation).
