The note of the commissioner Caputo
“Green light to the remodeling of the Hunting Calendar 2022/2023 which has modified the venable periods for those species for which the national legislation provides for it. We inaugurate a new address inspired by common sense and scientific rigor - This was announced by - the Councilor for Agriculture of the Campania Region, Nicholas Caputo, after the approval of the resolution to modify the hunting calendar by the Campania regional council.
The species concerned
The new reformulation of the calendar, also in consideration of the current meteorological trend, foresees the opening of the hunt on 18 September for the species Teal, Gadwall, Northern Pintail, Coot, Water Rail, Mallard, Moorhen, Garganey, Wigeon, Shoveler, Snipe and Whisk and to 21 September 2022 for the Pheasant and Quail species, deviating from the ISPRA opinion for the following reasons: "The opening date of the hunting season on the third Sunday of September (18 September 2022), is compatible with the end period of the reproduction and dependence of offspring, as defined by the document "Key Concepts", for all avifauna species sampled. With reference to the Quail and Pheasant species, for which, September 18 is formally the third to last day of the final decade of the reproduction period, Campania has chosen the opening on September 21th, thus eliminating, for these species, any overlap between the reproductive period and the hunting period ".
The reasons for the changes
The goal, shared with the president Vincenzo De Luca, was to find fair solutions for all stakeholders. The wildlife-hunting sector - concludes the commissioner Caputo - is of vital importance for Campania and directly involves the environment, the most important assets we have. The new address should only be inspired by the technical-scientific rigor, which allows us to have a hunting collection compatible with current regulations and sustainable with the most advanced European and Italian environmental provisions also through greater interaction with the Regional Wildlife Observatory "(Campania region).
