Hunting in Corsica: Corsica is a small rocky and rich paradise just a few steps from home, excellent for those who love authentic and fun migratory hunting.
Who said that to organize a nice hunting trip you must necessarily go around the world? Whoever did it was wrong, given that Italians are very lucky to have five-star hunting reserves in their territory, and a few steps from home, wild and uncontaminated oases, to be rediscovered with the respect they deserve.
Today we are not talking about Estonia, Argentina, Belarus or Albania, today we are talking about Corsica.
What makes a hunting trip to Corsica so attractive is the cost of the adventure, the seriousness of the experience reserved only for five-star hunters, and the possibility of getting to know a land so close and so unknown.
The island can be reached comfortably by ferry, and in less than three hours you can breathe all the scent of the island: you soon discover that Corsica is a complete microcosm complete with sea, hills and mountains, an ideal location for hunting migratory birds. and for hunting holidays in the company of his family and combining business with pleasure is never displeased with any hunter.
As mentioned, one must approach the island and the hunting grounds with a certain respect: to begin with it is an indispensable attitude when approaching mother nature, moreover it is often required to enter privately owned land, accompanied by local experts. The polite hunter will certainly be frowned upon.
In Corsica, hunting begins in September and ends in February and during this period it is possible to practice hunting in a rambling form, if you wish accompanied by your dog. The wild to hunt for other are really numerous during these long months: turtle doves to begin with, but also wood pigeons and thrushes, cesene and blackbirds, tordelle and larks, starlings, woodcocks, aquatic. Rabbits and partridges are less common but not impossible to find. In short, in such a small land there is something for everyone.
Before letting yourself be taken by the enthusiasm, however, it is important to remember that Corsica has its own regulations that are partly different from the Italian ones. For example, it is not possible to use any type of call, be it live or plastic, acoustic or mechanical, by mouth or manual: hunter warned means saved.
Furthermore, it will be possible to import only 100 shotgun cartridges and for thrushes and blackbirds there is a maximum daily killing of 40 prey. Of course, the regulations may change from year to year, so before embarking it is good to inquire carefully.
To hunt thrushes and blackbirds, the best months are December, January and early February: after all, the months of September, October and November, priority is given to native hunters, as it should be. Furthermore, it should not be forgotten that between January and February, in the northern part of the island, it is possible to hunt throughout the week, but in the southern area, hunting is forbidden on Tuesday and Friday and hunting silence is imposed.
Having said that, remember to bring with you the European card for the export of the weapon, the insurance with extended validity also for France and of course the firearms license and the hunting permit.
You just have to embark and dedicate yourself to an authentic and lively hunt.
