Small amounts
The last State-Regions Conference was fundamental for defining in detail the quotas – precisely for each individual requesting region – relating to the small quantities of finches and starlings. In practice, these are the specimens that can be collected under derogation during 2025.
Numbers by region
First of all, it should be specified that the total number of finches will be almost 600 thousand (581.302 to be precise), while the number of starlings will slightly exceed 230 thousand. Based on the number of hunters, therefore, these quotas were chosen:
Abruzzo 8.221 starlings and 19.317 finches
Emilia Romagna 23.062 starlings
Lazio 35.660 starlings and 83.792 finches
Liguria 11.058 starlings and 25.984 finches
Lombardy 41.552 starlings and 97.637 finches
Marche 14.728 starlings and 34.608 finches
Puglia 16.256 starlings
Tuscany 119.847 finches
Trento 12.829 finches
Umbria 21.192 starlings and 49.795 finches
Veneto 29.842 starlings and 70.123 finches
A wait lasting over a decade
The most significant news, as anyone who has always followed hunting issues in our country has already guessed, is the return of finches, given that in Italy it has not been possible to take advantage of the exemption in this sense since the now distant 2013.
