About seventeen years have passed since the promulgation of the regional law 1 September 1997 n. 33 which, acknowledging the principles of the reform law, the reads 11 February 1992 n. 157, has regulated hunting and related activities in our Region.
Despite several integrative and corrective interventions that have occurred in recent years, the problems that have emerged since its first application have remained intact: problems that have materialized in the continuous appeals of environmental associations to the administrative judge regarding times and huntable species, in the abandonment of the territory to itself due to the never set up management committees of the territorial areas of hunting, in the abnormal expansion of the wild boar populations that immense damage is causing
to the ecosystem inside and outside protected areas, just to name a few.
From these premises the idea was born to proceed with a complete revision of the current Regional Law no. 33/1997: revision which in addition to stemming these problems, incorporates that part of the
state discipline omitted in the original draft of the regional law.
We refer to the discipline of fixed stalking, derogations, selection hunting, the opening of hunting in the forest domains, the last closure of the hunting activity moved to February 10, the unification of the AA.TT.CC. sub-provinces in a single ATC, the possibility of confirming the AA.TT.CC. in which you have been admitted in the previous hunting season for free and through a simple email to the territorially competent division, of the revision of the current hunting fauna plan and of the legal regime relating to the Special Protection Areas and to the Sites of Community Importance, and much more still.
Well, with immense satisfaction we announce that today, September 23, has been concluded in
third parliamentary commission the process of approval of the bill in question. It will soon be the Chamber that will definitively give legal existence to the provision, so that Sicilian hunters can enjoy a modern tool for managing the fauna and hunting activities.
