The regional resolution
The Regional Council, with a resolution presented by the Councilor for hunting Cristiano Corazzari, today approved the modification of the current regional hunting calendar referred to in Dgr n. 970 of 2 August 2022, in relation to point 4 which governed the two supplementary hunting days from stalking to migratory species from 1 October to 30 November 2022. With today's amendment, the reduction from two to one additional day from stalking was ordered. The collection is allowed for the following species: mallard, coot, moorhen, teal, shoveler, gadwall, water rail, wigeon, garganey, whisk, blackbird, wood pigeon, cesena, redwing and song thrush.
The original hunting calendar
Originally the regional hunting calendar had foreseen two supplementary days. At the appeal of the environmental associations, the Regional Administrative Court of Veneto ordered the suspension of the hunting calendar as a precaution, pending the discussion on the merits set for November 30, 2022. In the suspension order, the regional administrative judges indicated that the arguments put forward by the Region support for the granting of additional days for the period October-November for migratory species does not appear fully convincing and capable of overcoming the opinion of ISPRA.
New data on withdrawals
"To overcome the stalemate in the situation and reconcile the requests of hunters and environmentalists, pending the hearing before the Regional Administrative Court, the Region considered it appropriate to start a discussion with ISPRA in order to have a new opinion from the institute in relation to the additional days - explains Councilor Corazzari -. There Veneto region provided new data on the collection of the species and ISPRA gave its favorable opinion to an additional weekly day of hunting for migratory birds in the months of October and November 2022 throughout the region. Day in addition to the three already provided for by current legislation ".
