An endless collapse. The data concerning i total hunters in province of Lucca and they are not at all encouraging. Tuscan hunting is one of those that boasts the longest traditions in Italy: in the space of 15 years, however, the from 12 thousand to less than 8 thousand shotguns. The decline is evident and the reasons are easily understood. The crisis in the hunting sector is accentuated by a slow and complicated turnover from the point of view generational, but the increasingly high costs that hunters have to bear and the rules imposed that minimize the space and game available should not be underestimated.
Compared to the rest of the country, however, in the province of Lucca the reduction is even more marked. An impressive figure is that of Camaiore. In the 2001-2002 season there were 1247 practicing and registered hunters, while today they are even 755 (almost 50% less). The same goes for Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi: in the first case we have passed 756 to 441 hunters, in the second from 190 to 99.
Furthermore, almost 300 shotguns were lost in Massarosa, while in Pietrasanta the reduction was limited (from 672 to 488 hunting badges). According to the provincial Federcaccia the fault lies with laws introduced over the years and the difficult relationship between the average age of practitioners (close to 70) and the expenses to be incurred.
