Three and a half years to reach the sentence: there are four months of imprisonment imposed by the Judge of the Court of Sondrio to three poachers, as told today by The day. The condemned went to the Stelvio National Park on November 9, 2012, the day on which the hunting silence, but they still decided to hunt in a forbidden situation. In addition to the aforementioned penalty, the three, all from the province of Brescia, will have to pay a fine of 600 euros each (court costs). It is, according to what reported by the same newspaper, of a 34 year old, a 45 year old and a 60 year old. The park was established in 1935 and with its 80 years of history is one of the oldest in all of Italy.
In the winter of 2012 they broke into one of the wildest areas of the Lombard park, not far from the territory that is part of the municipality of valfurva (in the province of Sondrio), to be precise in an area where there are many animal species that have the opportunity to reproduce. The poachers who went to trial used two very powerful halogen lights, definitely out of place in the park in question as well as prohibited by law on hunting. These lights are exploited by hunters in the darkest hours, in the evening and at night, i.e. at times when hunting is prohibited for safety reasons.
In addition, the headlights are the means deemed most "useful" for confuse ungulates (boars in the first place, but not only), which are unable to orient themselves and poachers have more time available for shooting with the rifle. The transport of the lights is considered sufficient for the application of the sentence, in this case there were also the culls. The three killed two deer and a roe deer, clearly violating the regulation governing the selection hunting of ungulates.
The killed animals are part of the list of the sedentary fauna of the Alps and the charge of the Sondrio court referred to the absolute ban on killing. Three and a half years ago the poachers were discovered by the police, caught in the act. Immediately there were complaints with a series of violations of the hunting regulations of the Lombardy Region and the Stelvio National Park, irregularities that are covered by the Criminal Code of our country. The four months of imprisonment represent the first instance judgment, it is not known whether there will be an appeal.
