The comparison table
The new Regional Hunting Calendar 23/24 was at the center of the discussion table organized by The Tuscan Regional Authority, with the hunting associations and the Coordination of the Tuscan ATCs. The objective of the Region was to speed up the process and reduce the time required for the approval of an instrument necessary to ensure legal certainty for Tuscan hunters, in full compliance with the time limits established by law. An important and timely discussion that started from the results achieved in the previous hunting season and the related sentences, before the Tar and subsequently the Council of State which reaffirmed the legitimacy of the contents of the previous Regional Hunting Calendar, rejecting the appeals presented by some animal welfare associations and environmentalists. A system, that of the Tuscan Calendar, which emerges strengthened above all in the part concerning the times and the sampling of some species such as the thrushes, the ducks and the woodcock, on which the appeals had particularly focused.
The digital hunting pass
Reproposed by the region, the modalities of last year, as regards the use of the Toscaccia App digital card, both for the annotation of the animals and the hunting day and for the collection of the species in derogation and in pre-opening. Also for the use of lead ammunition, the areas affected by the prohibition will be specified in compliance with what has already been established by the recent Ministerial Circular following the transposition of the EU Directive. As regards the conduct of the pre-opening, the proposal was for two days (the first also for the wild dove species) while providing that on the second day, sampling will only be allowed for the starling and pigeon species, on the basis of specific cultural conditions . The president of Federcaccia Toscana_ Unione Cacciatori Toscani Marco Salvadori who took part in the meeting, was able to recall these and other aspects in his speech, not failing to underline the need to reconfirm the entire system of a Hunting Calendar which also thanks to the legal technical contribution of our association, it has kept certain principles and contents firm, reconfirmed by the sentences.
Writing a new text
An important precedent that today allows us to re-propose a draft of the new 2023/24 Calendar, fully compliant with that of the previous one, with the conviction of giving Tuscan hunters a strong signal of certainty for the next hunting season. Following these basic considerations, the opportunity to introduce some improvement elements that can help to overcome some critical issues was also mentioned. In particular, reference was made to the need to provide a balanced and satisfactory solution, for the hunting of the species poiglone, also considering the continuation of the discussion at the national level for the approval of the Management Plan and in consideration of the guidelines that may emerge and mature within the State-Regions Conference, with the decisive contribution of the Tuscany region. Furthermore, as regards the hunting of wild turtle doves both before opening and within the times set by the calendar, it was considered correct to point out the need to increase the maximum limit of the animals that can be taken, in full compliance with the Management Plan of the species. Finally, the association reconfirmed its willingness to provide all necessary technical, legal and scientific support for any further need that may arise and once the final draft of the proposal has been verified following today's table, by the competent department ( source: FIDC).
