The date of September 1st
Following the Decree of the President of the Regional Administrative Court for Umbria n. 53/2024, which ordered the suspension of the hunting of the turtle dove in response to the appeal presented by the environmental associations against the Regional Hunting Calendar 2024/2025, the Umbria Region Hunting Department announces: on the pre-opening day of the hunting season, set for 1 September 2024, only hunting from a hide for crows will be permitted, specifically the grey crow, magpie and jay.
Counting of slaughtered animals
The authorized hours for hunting activities will be from 6:15 to 19:30. It is also specified that, in consideration of the suspension of the collection of the wild turtle dove, the web application foreseen for the counting of the killed animals will not be activated.
Animal rights appeal
With Resolution of the Regional Council n. 573 of 19 June 2024, the Hunting Calendar for the 2024/2025 season was approved, which included the possibility of hunting turtle doves during the pre-opening. However, following the appeal of the environmental associations and the decision of the Court, this provision was suspended. The Hunting Department reiterates its commitment to complying with current regulations and protecting the wildlife balance, remaining available for further clarifications and information.
