The appeal of the LAC
Il Regional Administrative Court for Veneto was expressed by pronouncing the Ordinance on the appeal number of the general register 1124 of 2022, proposed by theLeague Association for the Abolition of Hunting (LAC). In practice, it was considered that the even articulated reasons put forward by the Region in support of the opening of the hunt before 1 October 2022 do not seem suitable to overcome the opinion expressed by ISPRA in relation to the species subject to the appeal.
ISPRA's opinion
Furthermore, it is believed that ISPRA in its opinion expressed itself in a negative sense also in relation to the granting of additional hunting days in the period 1 October - 30 November 2022, the TAR decided to accept the precautionary request and for the effect of suspending the hunting calendar in two parts.
The provisions of the TAR
In a nutshell, the suspension concerns the calendar in its portion in which:
- provides for theopening of the hunt before1 October 2022 for the species Woodcock, Mallard, Coot, Moorhen, Teal, Shoveler, Gadwall, Water Rail, Wigeon, Pintail, Garganey, Common Snipe, Whisk, Song Thrush, Fieldfare, Redwing, Gray Partridge, Pheasant and Quail;
- grants two additional hunting days in period 1 October - 30 November for migratory species (source: Hunting Federation).
