Hunting: Lombardia, Fava, proposed by the Regional Council regarding the hunting by way of derogation and the capture of live decoys by authorized coils.
With a communication from the Councilor for Agriculture Gianni Fava, the Regional Council submits to Ispra (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research) the exceptions to the Birds Directive, which it intends to adopt on its territory - as expected by April - for the purpose of issuing the competent opinion. The first concerns the capture of live decoys and therefore the opening of the roccoli, the second intends to offer hunters the possibility of hunting the three species of finch, brambling and starling, in compliance with the principle of 'small quantity'. Finally, the third, relating to starling hunting, concerns the whole agricultural world as well as hunting, and is aimed at safeguarding crops from damage. “The attention to the hunting world and to the protection of its traditional and cultural environmental value is maximum - underlined the commissioner Gianni Fava -. In the path that led to the formation of the acts, we took into account the elements borrowed from the positions expressed by the main hunting associations ".
In Lombardy, from 2008 to date, a total of € 575.293 of damage caused by the reversal species to agricultural production has been ascertained. In 2014, the damages reported by the Lombard provinces amounted to 110.240 euros. The crops most affected are the wine, fruit (apple) and olive crops, with a concentration of damage in the period of fruit ripening, in which the starling population is more numerous and in which the plants are more susceptible to damage. In the areas where the greatest concentration of damage was recorded, there are significant high quality productions (specialized vineyards for the production of DOC and DOCG wines, olive groves and apple orchards).
