Hunting: Lombardy, provision of the Regional Council on live calls, "Limits to the controls of hunting guards".
Approved amendment to the Regional Community Law which establishes the prohibition of manipulation, and invasive practices in the controls, by the hunting guards as regards live calls. The proposer and deputy leader of the Carroccio at Palazzo Pirelli, Fabio Rolfi, intervened on the merits.
“This is an important measure - explains the Northern League exponent - which for the first time establishes a limit to the exercise of the control of hunting guards. In fact, it has happened that these bodies have often exercised this activity in a too invasive way, perpetrating manipulations of live calls, in a way that is detrimental to the principle of animal welfare, just as repeatedly highlighted by the hunters themselves. In certain particular situations, it also happened that serious damage was also caused to the same animals subject to control. From now on, however, a tool is provided capable of saying enough to episodes that have seen guards arrive at the huts and open the cages as they wish, causing the problems described above.
At this point - concludes Fabio Rolfi - it will now be up to the Provinces, within their own regulatory provisions, to implement this principle in a concrete way, also providing for the necessary sanctions for offenders. "
In the classroom, during today's Regional Council, a discussion was also held on the draft law 137, “Provisions for the fulfillment of the obligations of the Lombardy Region deriving from Italy's membership of the European Union”. The 5-star movement presented an agenda containing the strong criticalities regarding the aluminum rings used for the identification of calls and the opposition to the use of nets for trapping. An idea, the one expressed by the Grillini, to be anti-hunt and to oppose the use of live calls and not to foresee birding in the future.
Councilor Sala intervened with determination, arguing that “In this room not only anti-huntsmen sit, but also those who are in favor of the local hunting culture and tradition. The vote of the council was contrary to the agenda presented by the 5 Star Movement. The database of live calls will be a good encouragement in the future to ask ISPRA and the European Community to keep birding in the next few years, to ask ISPRA for the possibility of being able to hunt in derogation. The commitment of the regional department and the council is to achieve these results.
