Hunting: Lombardy, questioning in the Regional Council on hunting activities; Councilor Rolfi, “More courage on exceptions and roccoli”.
A question to the Regional Council on the subject of hunting was presented on Friday 27 June by the deputy leader of the Lega Nord, Fabio Rolfi from Brescia. «The closure of the roccoli, feared for 2017, would represent not only a severe blow to the Lombard hunting tradition, but would also have strong economic, social and cultural repercussions, given the widespread diffusion of this practice. Also for this reason I considered it necessary to submit a question to the regional council where the opportunity to work for the effective overcoming of the agreements of the "environment package" is reaffirmed, favoring the active maintenance of the roccoli beyond 2017 ». «This - explains Rolfi - also in light of the costs and proven difficulties in replacing live trapping calls with large-scale breeding. Given the landscape and anthropological value of the roccoli, I also believe that the process for the recognition of UNESCO should be started for these structures ».
The Carroccio question then intervenes in relation to the levy in derogation, urging the Region to continue vigorously in the "confrontation with the offices of the European Commission to arrive at a definitive clarification on the application methods of the Hunting Directive in the part concerning hunting in derogation , seriously considering the possibility of asking the European Court of Justice for an authentic interpretation of the content of the Directive itself.
