And so on 9 October a good number of i song thrushes, long-awaited and very late compared to the normal schedule. Another migration peak it took place on Thursday 11 October and then nothing more to report until Sunday 14 October, on the eve of the traditional date of Santa Teresa of 15 October. Together with the song Thrushes, in some areas also of low hills, towards the weekend also the Rock Thrushes arrived sporadically, accompanied by the Swallows, already reported in reduced numbers in the preceding days.
The presence of the Chaffinch is excellent, increasing every day, as is the case for the Blackcap. The Robin is recovering slightly while, still among the finches, it is interesting to underline the appearance of the Peppola and the Siskin in the low hills and the continuous absence of the Frosone, as well as the scarcity of the Fanello. In the countryside they appeared the first Larks, the first Pispole and the Spioncelli. On the other hand, there is nothing relevant to report as regards the common snipe, the anatidae in general and the mythical woodcock.
In short, in the second week of this October, after an anomalous and almost absent post-nuptial migration, as happened in the south of France and Greece, it seems that the gates of heaven have opened for our winged friends. The weather conditions portend a good week ahead with temperatures even higher than average of the period, while the first quarter moon was born under the best auspices.
