The Province of Perugia authorizes hunting in derogation of the transfer to prevent damage to crops.

The Province of Perugia, following the example of nearby Terni, authorized hunting notwithstanding the starling as a measure for the containment of the species and thus prevent excessive damage to crops, in particular vineyards and olive groves.

According to the determination of the Province, hunting notwithstanding the starling can be practiced in stalking, together with the use of ecological methods of prevention, in the immediate vicinity, up to a maximum distance of 100 meters, of the crops concerned that have pending fruit. Obviously, all hunting means prohibited by article 8 of Directive 147/2009 / EC are not allowed, while the use of shotguns with smooth-bore barrels is allowed.

The hunters authorized by the Province to practice the withdrawal in derogation of the transfer will be a maximum of 2000 and the activity can be carried out on the pre-opening days, 1 and 2 September, as well as during the hunting season from dawn to dusk every day. of the week in the periods from 25 July to 15 October for the protection of orchards, early vineyards and other vineyards; from 15 September to 15 December for the protection of the olive groves before the harvesting period.

Each authorized hunter can kill a maximum of 30 total animals during the entire hunting season, for each farm at risk of damage, a maximum of 100 animals can be killed for companies up to 3 hectares of land, 300 animals for land from three to 10 hectares and 500 heads for crops spread over land over 500 hectares; in any case it will not be possible to exceed the maximum number of 80 thousand animals killed overall for the entire provincial territory.
