Gianni Fava, Councilor for Agriculture of the Lombardy region, commented on ISPRA's latest choices regarding the hunting notwithstanding starlings, finches and brambles. The Institute gave a negative opinion to this hunting levy, even if it did not enter into the merits of the regional proposal, limiting itself to talking about theabsence of alternative solutions. Fava then invited the Minister of the Environment, Gian Luca Galletti, to explain the letter sent last November 8, the one in which he spoke of Italian regions entitled to activate hunting in derogation.
The Lombardy Region recalled its contribution during the technical discussions on these topics, a work that the commissioner defined as “thrown away”, given that ISPRA seems to want to completely exclude exceptions. The opinion emphasizes how the concept of "small amount" it cannot be applied to most of the species that are part of the order of passerines, especially migratory ones.
For Fava this clarification is equivalent to having "thrown the mask", in addition to "some smoke to sell to the hunters". The passage of the opinion relating to possible sanctions against Italy on the other hand, it was judged as irrational, also because it is no longer understood who is governing this game from a political point of view.
