Hunting: PD Liguria opposed to the suspension of hunting, "Wrong and spurious appeal", an urgent solution to protect hunting and agriculture.
The PD Liguria opposed to the suspension of the Hunting Calendar by the Council of State and criticized the provision by announcing, "We will work with the utmost commitment and in the shortest possible time to find a solution to the problem that arose with the suspension of hunting in Liguria decreed by the Council of State following an appeal by environmental associations ". We believe that this appeal is wrong and specious and we were very surprised that neither the Regional Council, nor the Council, that is to say the highest regional institutional bodies, were informed of the appeal. This is an omission which, in our opinion, could even vitiate the validity of the suspension. In fact, not having been informed of the appeal, the Regional Council has not had the opportunity to appear in court in defense of its provision. We are astonished by this suspension, which apparently has no motivation. We think that the regional law on hunting is a good law, developed taking into account different needs, the result of a long process of confrontation with the requests of those who represent these needs. All this is supported by the fact that the hunting calendar has positively overcome the appeal to the TAR Liguria always presented by environmental associations.
We are convinced that the Region has no responsibility for the situation that has arisen, as the Opposition Councilor Francesco Bruzzone, who actively participated in all the construction activities of the provision, also underlined. The hunting calendar, in fact, was elaborated with a great spirit of collaboration of most of the political forces present in Commission IV.
President Scibilia immediately convened the competent Commission and we are working with the dual objective of allowing the regular performance of hunting activities in Liguria and protecting the farmers who suffer serious damage every year as a result of the proliferation of wild boar and roe deer. The hunting of ungulates, in fact, also plays an important role in limiting the number of specimens and the decision taken by the State Council to suspend the hunting activity until at least November 26th risks favoring the uncontrolled increase of the ungulate population. on the Ligurian territory.
